Dorothy Osborn Sheets Sloan Age 89, of Redondo Beach, CA was born January 26, 1927 at Seattle General Hospital, the daughter of Edward Hill and Hope Blair Osborn, who were missionaries. The family moved to Arkansas near the White Indian River. She began her Schooling in Glendale, CA, then attended a one room school in Acton, and graduated from Redondo Union High School. During WWII she participated in the Cadet Nursing Program at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital and became a registered nurse, a life-time career. In 1950 she married Chester H. Sheets and gave birth to three daughters, Susan, Karen and Christine. Following the death of her husband, she married William Sloan in 1977 and moved to the State of Washington. She was a long-time member of Eastern Star and Order of Amaranth. For many years she knitted clothing for dolls for the Samaritan's Purse Project. She loved organ music, hymns and reading the classics, which she shared with her children. Surviving are daughters, Susan Gayvert of Washington, PA, and Karen Sheets of Redondo Beach; grandchildren, Timothy (Angie) Gayvert of Washington, PA and Esther Gayvert (Dillan) Harper-Smith of Ft. Eustis, VA. Deceased in addition to her husbands are her daughter Christine Sheets and her son-in-law Morgan Gayvert. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017, 12:00 pm at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
