Dorothy “Peni” Mitchell KINGSTON- Dorothy “Peni” Mitchell, 64, of Kingston, died Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Ferncliff Nursing in Rhinebeck. Born Feb. 22, 1953 in Baltimore, Maryland, she is the daughter of the late Harold and Lenore (Smith) Mitchell. Peni, as she was known by her friends and family, was a passionate artist who enjoyed giving her artwork to her friends and family. She loved to follow up with family and friends to see where they had displayed her pieces. She loved the Bible and enjoyed holding bible study at her home. She had a love for music and pets; especially dogs. Peni is survived by her children, T’zshanna M. Shelembe and Jerome Mitchell and his wife Sarah of Kingston; her grandson, MPonde Menzi Shelembe; her sisters, Pamela Winkle of Kingston, Paula Jones of Newburgh and Lenora Mitchell of Baltimore Maryland; nieces and nephews, Kim Winkle, Karen Winkle-Gorsline, Hamid Mitchell, April Reynolds, Marlena Mitchell and Amber Mitchell; her aunts, Erma Lee Smith and Marlene Thorner of Baltimore; a companion, Kevin Howell of Kingston. A host of cousins also survive. She is predeceased by a nephew Charles Jones. Cremation and memorial arrangements are under the guidance of the Joseph V.
