Dorothy A. Meyer, age 90, of Staunton, died at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She was born Nov. 17, 1926, in Madison County, the daughter of the late Herman and Edna Dustman Strohmeier. She married Wilfred E. Meyer on May 5, 1946, in Edwardsville. He preceded her on Aug. 15, 2000. She is survived by three daughters: Carol (Richard) Kapp of Staunton, Jane (Art) Partridge of Staunton and Nancy (Peggy) Meyer of Edwardsville; one son: Eddie (Tammy) Meyer of Staunton; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; Lester Strohmeier of Edwardsville; one sister-in-law: Sally Strohmeier of Bunker Hill; one brother-in-law: Marvin Meyer of Alton and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Elmer and George Strohmeier and two sisters: Laura Schmidt and Stella Strohmeier. Mrs. Meyer was a homemaker. She was of the Lutheran faith and a volunteer at Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton and His Service Station in Staunton. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 16, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Prairietown. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at the church with Rev. Kelly Mitteis and Rev. Dale Skeesick officiating. Interment will be in Prairietown Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to either Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton, St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Prairietown or Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton.
