Mrs. Dorothy Ray McCarty
STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Dorothy Ray McCarty, age 80, died on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a Statesboro High graduate. She was the owner and operator of McCarty Produce for over 20 years. Mrs. McCarty loved fishing, playing Bingo, crabbing and loved entertaining friends and family at her home. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Ray, Wilbur Ray and Edward Ray; a grandson, Sean Michael Sapp; and her lifelong companion, Doy Lanier. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Joey Jackson of Millen, Ga.; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Buddy and Carol Sapp, Ricky and Robin Sapp and Timmy and Traci McCarty, all of Statesboro; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; a brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Joyce Ray of Little Rock, Arkansas; a sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and JM Fountain of Pembroke, Ga. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Allen officiating. Interment will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Lance Sapp, Ricky Sapp, Adam Sapp, Matthew McCarty, Hunter McCormick and Morgan Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Bingo Girls.
