Dorothy "Dot" Braxton Manning BELVOIR - Dorothy "Dot" Braxton Manning, 78, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, which would have been her 79th birthday, at 2:30pm in the Smith Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Dot was a lifelong resident of Pitt County. She and her husband farmed and owned and operated Manning's Drive-In. She will be remembered for her witty sense of humor and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Manning; sons, Jamie and Ed Manning; and her companion for the last 15 years, Jimmie Fillingame. Dot is survived by her brother, Gene Braxton and wife Ann of Greenville; sisters, Shirley Allen and husband Roger of Winterville, Eva Everette of Greenville and Cynthia Jones of Winterville; daughters, Janet Stancill and husband James of Grimesland and Kathy Wells and husband Clarence of Ayden; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
