Dorothy L. Loya
Dorothy L. (Mercer) Loya, 82, formerly of Cheswick, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a brief illness. She was born March 26, 1934, in Indiana, Pa., daughter of the late Albert and Katherine (Nagy) Mercer Sr. Dorothy lived the past five years in Pittsburgh, and prior to that, six years in Dawson. She spent most of her life in Cheswick and Springdale, where she was a homemaker. Dorothy was a member of SS Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum, and a graduate of Indiana High School. She was an avid card player, especially Poker and 500 Rummy. She enjoyed reading and singing and especially enjoyed her family. Thank you to the staff of Fair Oaks, Pittsburgh, for the care of Dorothy during her time there. Survivors include her children, Christopher P. (Susan) Loya, of Penn Hills, Stephen A. (Bonnie) Loya, of Brackenridge, David J. (Anesa) Loya, of Mt. Holly, N.C., and Susan Rebecca Loya, of Hedgesville, W. Va.; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. Loya, Dec. 31, 2012; and her siblings, Albert Mercer Jr. and Margaret Zalatel. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME INC., 347 E. Tenth Ave., Tarentum, 724-224-1526, where a Panachida will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Monday followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in SS Peter & Paul Church, Tarentum, with her pastor, the Rev.
