Dorothy Jane (Walters) Zarse Eberhart 95, of Remington, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 6:50 p.m. at Rensselaer Care Center of Rensselaer, IN. She was born June 13, 1921 in Pulaski County, IN to the late Albert and Marie (Logan) Walters. Dorothy was a 1939 graduate of Medaryville High School. She also attended Martins School of Beauty Culture of Lafayette in 1940. Her marriage was to Reinhart Zarse on June 15, 1941, he preceded her in death on July 15, 1989. She later married Earl Eberhart on June 30, 1991, he preceded her in death on March 20, 2016. Dorothy was a member of the Carpenter Nite Outers, Home Ec Club of Jasper County, and the Remington United Methodist Church. She worked for several years at St. Joseph's College at the Food Center. Dorothy loved all card games, especially euchre, sewing, traveling, camping, cooking and baking. She received many honors and blue ribbon champions and grand champions at the local and state levels for her expertise in baking. She is survived by her children, Keith (Jeanne) Zarse of Goodland, IN, Everett (Pat) Zarse of Greenfield, IN, Wayne (Theresa) Zarse of Goodland, IN, and Gina (Rick) Shaffer of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Mark (Tracy) Zarse, Matthew (Stephanie) Zarse, Erin (Ross) Williamson, Josh Zarse, Nathan (Emily) Zarse, Thad Zarse, Jed (Ashley) Zarse, Val (Will) Fredrick, Laura (Bo) Barrett, Kristin Shaffer, and Austin Shaffer. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren, siblings, Anne Faircloth, Paul Walters, George Walters, and Jean Schroyer. Preceding her in death along with her parents and spouses, are three brothers and one sister. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. (EST) until the time of funeral service 11 a.m. (EST) Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Remington United Methodist Church. Pastor Jeff Smith to officiate. Interment to follow in St. James Lutheran Cemetery of Reynolds. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dorothy's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
