Doris Jean Waud (Miller), age 66, passed away Tuesday, October 11th, at Highland Hospital in Rochester, N.Y. Mrs. Waud is survived by her husband of 44 years, John Waud; two sons, Stephen, of Burlington, Vt., and Michael, of Washington, DC; and brother, Charles (Darlene) Miller, of Phoenix, Ariz. Doris, originally of Birdsboro, Pa., received her BA from Kutztown University and MS from Lehigh University. She taught elementary school in several Rush Henrietta schools from 1993 through 2013. In her personal life, Mrs. Waud loved the outdoors and was a lifelong conservationist. Along with husband, John, she spent considerable time in Chiapas, MX, doing conservation work with The Nature Conservancy, as well as installing water purification systems in rural towns. She was also a supporter of folk music and member of Golden Link Folk Singing Society. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Cornell Lab of Ornithology, or Kutztown University's College of Education Dean's Scholarship.
