Doris I. Steele
Doris I. Steele, age 96 years, of Plymouth, died Monday, April 17, 2017 at Lifecare Center in Plymouth, following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late John Steele, and the daughter of the late Desire and Delia (Gagnon) Guay. Born in Allston on December 6, 1920, she was educated in Brighton and Stoughton schools, and worked in the shipping department for Sears and Roebuck in Burlington and Hyannis. Doris lived many years in Billerica and summered in Plymouth for over 40 years, eventually making it her year round home in 1977. She was a member of St. Margaret | St. Marys Womens Guild, and Arts and Crafts Group, as well as being an amateur radio operator with the call letters W1VVW and a volunteer at the Plymouth Library. Doris is survived by her sons, John H. Steele Jr. and his wife Judy of Plymouth, and Brian Steele and his wife Deborah of Brockton, her daughters Dianne Steele of Buzzards Bay and Judi Steele and her partner Dennis Dickerson of Dracut as well as five grandchildren, Craig, Brian, Scott, Brendan and Nicole, great- grandchildren, Gabrielle, Emma, Talan, John, Kayla, Joshua, Zachary, Madison and Andrew, and great-great grandchildren Spencer and John. She was the sister of the late Henry Guay. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 8:30AM from the Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Rd., Manomet, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Margarets Church, Buzzards Bay at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday.
