Doris O'Neill Finnessy November 2, 1919 - February 3, 2017 New Freedom Doris Finnessy, 97, was born in Baltimore November 2, 1919. She was the wife of Edward J. Finnessy Jr.; mother of Elizabeth Seton McCully, Tisa, and Deborah Finnessy, and Linda Robbins. She is survived by nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She graduated from Seton High School in 1937. Upon Graduation she sang with local big bands in Maryland. She was president of three Mothers' Clubs and a charter member of the Carmelite Guild. In1962 she moved to New Freedom She was employed as an executive secretary and newsletter editor at Warehauser Lumber. She was very active in the local theater TOPASIC. She had leading roles in Fiddler, Mame, Nunsense, My Fair Lady, and Hello Dolly and designed and sewed costumes for herself and many of the actors. She was a poet and avid reader, and Halloween costume maker for her many great-grandchildren. She sang and danced at family weddings into her nineties. She was from her early years until her death a loyal Orioles fan. A Memorial Mass will be held at Stella Maris in Timonium, MD. on Friday February 17 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions can be sent to www.baltimorecarmel.org .
