In memory of
Doris Mary (Carey) Cook
Doris Mary (Carey) Cook passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017. She was 94 years old at the time of her passing. Doris was married for 74 years to her beloved husband, Eugene Otis Cook (Bompa), who passed away in August, 2016. They were recognized in 2014 as NH's longest married couple. They met after being introduced by Doris' older brother, Frankie, and their first date was to see Gone with the Wind at the movie theatre in 1940. Doris was a gentle soul filled with love and kindness. She was the proud mother of three sons, loving Gramma of five grandsons and four granddaughters, great-grandmother of 19 and great-great grandmother of three. Doris adored her younger sister, Peggy, and cherished their relationship. Doris was born July 5, 1922 in Providence, R.I. She was the daughter of Frank E. Carey and Margaret E. (Cullen) Carey. One of Doris' proudest achievements, other than being an honor student during her school years, was being the undisputed "jacks" champion in South Providence, R.I. She will long be remembered for her kind nature, patience and her ability to yield the room to Bompa. Doris retained a sense of adventure throughout her life. She surprised her family many times by doing the unexpected; parasailing in Acapulco, canoe camping on the Magalloway and riding roller coasters. Doris also enjoyed cooking for her extended family. Favorites were chowder and clam-cakes, brownies, lemon meringue pie and the best scrambled eggs you could ever find. Doris worked in administration for the town of Burrillville, RI for over 30 years before moving to N.H. in 1984. She helped build the family business, E.O. Cook Machinery & Associates, Inc. She is survived by her three sons, Michael (Cyndi) Center Barnstead, NH, Ronald (Kerri) Cook of New Durham, N.H., Richard (Rebecca Courser) Cook of Warner, N.H.; grandchildren, Bradford (Natalie) of Houston, Texas, Francis "Bud" (Suzanne) of Woodstock, Conn. , Kevin (Debbie) Riel of Barnstead, N.H., Jon (Amy) of Bradford, N.H., Matthew (Marcia) of Victor, Ind., Samantha (Josh) Knight of Dover, N.H., Melissa (Scott) Moran of Warner, N.H., Rebecca (Travis) Manning of N. Berwick, Maine, Emma (David) Bates of Warner, N.H.; great-grandchildren Jessie, Brad, Sarah, Nikki, Travis, Maddie, Jenna, Anna, Scarlette, Genevieve, Thatcher, Christopher, Mason, Shane, Joslyn, Amia, Maisie, Patrick, Caroline; great-great grandchildren Jayden, Bailey, Kayden; her sister, Margaret (Peggy) Turbitt.
