Donna Wilson Taylor Melvin Donna Wilson Taylor, 92, of Melvin, who has made her residence at The Blue Water Lodge in Fort Gratiot since August of 2012, died on September 11, 2016. From 1947 until 2012 she resided in the Sanilac County village of Melvin. Donna was born August 14, 1924, in Roseburg (Fremont Township), the eighth of nine children born to Frank and Hattie Donnenworth Wilson. She graduated from Yale High School in 1941, after which she worked at S.S. Kresges in Port Huron. Early in 1942 she received a post card (written in shorthand) from her high school business teacher, Mr. Richard Wiersma, encouraging her to apply for a bookkeeping position at the Yale State Bank. Donna worked at the bank as a bookkeeper, teller, and loan administrator for the next 44 years, retiring in August of 1986. On January 17, 1947, she and Robert D. Taylor were married at the Baptist church parsonage in Melvin. Bob was the rural mail carrier out of the Melvin Post Office for 36 years. He died on June 28, 2005. Donna is survived by two children, Jane E. (Rodney) Getz of Penrose, North Carolina and James R. Taylor of Mifflinburg, PA; six grandchildren, Eric (Tracy) Getz of Albany, OR, Matthew (Catherine) Getz of Buford, GA, Melinda (Donnie) Herman of Loganville, GA, Nichole (Jason) Boris of Wayne, PA, Aaron (Laura) Taylor of Malvern, PA, and Carrie (Matthew) Ryan of Havertown, PA., twelve great grandchildren; brother, Frank Wilson of Lexington, MI, two sisters-in-law, Frances (Fritzi) Wilson and Elouise (Pud) Wilson both of Fort Gratiot, and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters, Russell Wilson (2008), Pauline Noble (2005), Howard Wilson (1982), Jean Shell (2006), Maribelle Reid (2004), Helen Brown (2013) and William Wilson (2009), a daughter-in-law, Cheri Taylor (2005) and a special sister-in-law, Lorraine Wanamaker (1989). The family honors the memory of Donna and invites you to visit and share memories Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday with 12:00 noon visiting at the funeral home. Rev. Christopher Titus, pastor of Melvin United Methodist Church, will officiate.
