CLOSPLINT — Donna R. Peace, 69, of Closplint, entered Heavens gates on Monday, October 17, 2016, at her home. Born November 29, 1946, she had been a lifelong resident of Harlan County. Donna was a Christian and a member of the Huff Settlement Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She served and loved her church well as Song Leader, Assistant Clerk (until her illness), Director of Vacation Bible School, Ladies Sunday School Teacher, Play Director and Youth Teacher. Donna was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was loved by so many and will be sadly missed by her family and her community. She was preceded in death by her parents, James William Saylor and Cora Ethel Creech Saylor; three sisters, Nancy Haynes, Pearlee Saylor and Emily Shuler; and nine brothers, Clyde, Arnold, Homer, Clarence, Frank, Ralph, Winston, Luther and infant boy Saylor. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Morris "Bud" Peace, Closplint; two sons that were her pride and joy, Vincent Peace and Chris Peace and wife, Linda, both of Closplint; six granddaughters, Lauren Jones and husband, TJ; Stephanie Caudill and husband, Steve, all of Closplint; Aaliah Peace, Pensacola, FL; Meka Peace, Fort Jackson, SC; Willow and Shawnee Peace, Closplint; three great-granddaughters, Crissalynn Jones, Ember Lee Caudill and Harper Holmes, all of Closplint; one sister that cared for her and stayed right by her side until the end, Mona Johnson and husband, Frank, Palimyra, IN; one brother, Joe Saylor, Joliet, IL; and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved very much, including a very special niece, Brenda Fredrick and son Randall Helton, both of Closplint. Donna also had a special person whom she loved like a son, Adam Thomas, Closplint. Donna had many friends and was loved by her community. A few of her special friends are Judy Clark, Closplint; Judy Short, Cumberland; Pat Burgan, Closplint; and Viola Wynn, Closplint. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 until 10 pm at the Huff Settlement Baptist Church at Closplint. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 20, 2016, at 2 pm at the Huff Settlement Baptist Church with the Reverend Bud Culbertson and Reverend Gerald Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with T.J. Jones, Adam Thomas, Frank Johnson, Harvey Fields, Jr., Clifton Kelly and Randall Helton serving as pallbearers.
