Donald A. Tartaro
Donald A. Tartaro, 87, of Fayetteville, passed away Saturday after a brief illness at St. Joseph's Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Syracuse and attended Vocational High School. Don's first job was working as a route foreman for Dairylea. He then worked as a Liquor Salesman for Service Liquor. He retired from the Onondaga County Department of Social Services after 20 years of service. Don was also an active musician for over 50 years and had a passion for jazz music. He resided in Fayetteville and was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville. Don loved spending time with his family and vacationing at the Jersey Shore. He also enjoyed luncheons with his Lincoln Republican friends, and was a member of the Lincoln Republican Club, I.A.A.C., and the Moose Club. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses and doctors of the ICU at St. Joseph's Hospital for their excellent care and compassion. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Josephine Tartaro; his sisters, Rose Farnett, Esther Lion, and Frances Freeman; his brothers, Michael, Louis and Anthony Tartaro. Don is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jeaninne (Sagarella) Tartaro; his children, Donald L. Tartaro, Lisa (Chris) Molesso, and Thomas (Mary Helen) Tartaro; six grandchildren, Thomas, Jenna, Mason, Michaela, Dillon, and Autumn; two sisters, Mary (Nicholas) Speech and Lucy VanDyke; his sister-in-law, Irene Tartaro, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A celebration of Donald's life will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 9:15 AM in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:30 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, Fayetteville. Entombment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd.
