Donald W. Strohl
Donald W. Strohl, 100, formerly of Easton, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016 in ManorCare-Palmer. Born June 5, 1916 in Wilson Borough, PA, he was a son of the late Jeremiah and Lula Walters Strohl. His wife of 71 years, the former Rita Hommer, passed away April 27, 2011. Donald retired from the former Taylor Wharton Company where he worked for 44 years. He was a 1935 graduate of Wilson High School. Donald served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, formerly St. Joseph's. He was a life member of Liberty Hose Company. Surviving are three daughters, Rosemary Miller, of San Diego, CA, Joan Beck and her husband John, of Easton, and Carol McFarland and her husband Robin, of Palmer Township; seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by an infant son, Donald Jr., five brothers, Lester, Albert, Richard, James and Robert Strohl and an infant sister, Natalie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Monday in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 132 S. Fifth Street, Easton. Burial will be in St. Joseph's New Cemetery.
