Donald LeRoy Stahl August 21, 1929 - February 12, 2017 Visalia Don Stahl, 87, passed away peacefully after a long illness at his home in Visalia of 61 years. He was born to Zack and Annie Stahl in Yale, SD and grew up in Dinuba, CA, attending Dinuba High School ('48) and Reedley College ('50). He married his high school sweetheart, Esther Woodcock in 1950. They moved to Visalia and raised their two children in the home that Don built. A lifelong cabinet maker, Don began his career as a young man at Colonial Cabinet Shop and Visalia Showcase. Don and Vito Mastrangelo then started their own business (Mineral King Fixtures), adding Max Parshall to their partnership a few years later. They ran it together for many years until retirement. He was a longtime member of Visalia First Baptist and later, Prosperity Avenue Baptist Church in Tulare. He was active in the music ministries at both churches.After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling both on their own and with Visalia Christian Ministries (aka "Bible and Breakfast") and remodeling their home and yard, adding a shop where Don continued to build furniture for many organizations and individuals. His handiwork can be found all over Visalia and beyond. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Waldo Stahl (Kären) of Delano, CA. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Esther Stahl of Visalia; a son Dana Stahl (Terry) of Visalia and a daughter, Gwen Nail (Carl) of southern California; two grandchildren, Julie Peterson (Jarod) of Visalia and Matt Stahl of Visalia, along with one great-grandson, Jacob Moore and another on the way, Jase Peterson. He is also survived by three brothers, Tom Stahl (Judy) of Visalia, Cliff Stahl (Bonnie) of Visalia and Charles Stahl (Cheryl) of Los Alamitos, CA; as well as a sister, Violet Payette of Stanton, CA-- along with numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 10:00am at Gateway Church, 1100 S. Sowell, Visalia 93277. Visitation is at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell, Visalia 93277 on Thursday, February 16 from 4-7 pm.
