Donald D. Smith 1941—2016 Donald D. Smith, 75, of Caledonia, passed away in his home following a long illness. Born in Rockford, on August 8, 1941, to Issac D. and Elma (Carter) Smith. Don graduated from West High School. Lived in Caledonia since 1979. Married Regina Crozier in Rockford on September 2, 1967; she passed away November 2, 2000. Don was a retired Rockford Police Officer retiring in 1992, after 30 years of service. He owned Don's Coins & Collectables in Rockton for 14 years. He was a member of Star in the East Masonic Lodge #166, and a 50 year member of Tebala Shrine where he was a Veteran of the Provost Guard Unit, also the Rockford Area Coin Club. Survivors include daughters, Donna (Jeff) Hall and Lori (Michael) Smith; grandchildren, Emily and Jacob Hall; brothers, Roger (Cathy) Smith and Gary Smith; sister, Barb (Jack) Sokolski; several nieces and nephews; longtime companion, Martha Robison; Predeceased by his parents and wife. Masonic services at 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2016, followed by funeral services at 10:30 a.m., with Father William Wentink officiating, at Anderson-Long-Klontz Funeral Home Ltd., 6825 Weaver Rd.
