Donald L. Shurwin
Shurwin, Donald L. Donald L. Shurwin, age 83, of Gilbert, Az. - passed away on the morning of October 5, 2016 at Samaritan Health Hospital, Phoenix, after a valiant battle with heart disease. Don is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Rose Ann Shurwin, four children: Don H. Shurwin, Dan L. Shurwin, Doug E. Shurwin, daughter Christi Lynn and his sister Joan Wisniewski. He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Dale, and his own parents. He is also survived by twelve grand- children, fifteen great grand- children and many nieces and nephews and their families. Don completed his Toolmakers Apprenticeship in Erie, Pennsylvania and worked as a Journeyman Toolmaker and Prototype Machinist until starting his own machine shop in Phoenix in the mid-1960's. He was a successful business owner until his retirement in 2005. His success in business can be directly attributed to his work ethic and common sense. He passed these traits on to all of his children, and served as a mentor to a number of successful entrepreneurs. Don and Rose shared a love of horses and successfully raised and showed Arabians for a number of years. Don's love for animals, especially horses and dogs, was one of many qualities he passed on to all of his children. He leaves behind a dog named "BEAR" that is still anxiously awaiting his return. THERE ARE FEW WORDS TO DESCRIBE SUCH A LARGE PRESENCE IN LIFE, and we all look forward to seeing him again in the next one. A memorial will be held in his honor, on Sunday, October 23rd for family and friends.
