Donald Claude 'Don' Sachau Far Hills resident, 'lived his life with passion,' 85 Donald Claude "Don" Sachau, 85, of Far Hills passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Chatham Hills Sub-acute Care Center in Chatham. Don lived his life with passion and was among the kindest people anyone ever knew. He grew up in Millburn and attended Millburn High School and graduated from Rutgers University receiving a degree in business administration. Just thereafter, he was drafted and served two years in the Army in Alabama at Ft. McClellan. Once back, he joined his dad and brother in their family business, Sachau Dental Supply originating in Millburn. Don's true passion was around antiques and Model A cars. His favorite was a 1931 blue roadster convertible with luggage rack, rumble seat and yellow tires - Wow! He was a fan of classic country music and had a great singing voice. He loved spending time with his family which included his son and daughter, four granddaughters, and many good friends. Don is survived by his son, Donald C. Sachau, Jr. and his wife, Alicia, of Somerset; his daughter, Hilary Downing and her husband, Nicholas, of Whitehouse; four granddaughters, Kyra and Brooke Sachau and Paris and Peri Downing; his step-daughter, Allison L. Siimes and her husband, Seppo, of Bedminster; and his brother, William Sachau and his wife, Audrey, of Kearnersville, NC. Visitation will be held at the Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster on Friday, March 17 from 10:00am to 12:00pm followed by a funeral service at 12:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Restland Memorial Park, 77 DeForest Avenue, East Hanover on Saturday, March 18 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
