Donald Eric Gogel Newburgh, Ind. Donald Eric Gogel, 60, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016. Don was born in Evansville, Indiana on March 29, 1956 to the late William and Rosalind (Meyer) Gogel. He was a 1974 graduate of Memorial High School and received his Bachelor's in mathematics from Purdue University. Don retired from Bristol Myers in 2011 after 30 years of service. He was later employed as Senior Project Manager, Technology, Global Integrated Processes SAP Initiative at Walmart's World Headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas. Don enjoyed playing Rugby on the Evansville Men's Rugby Club, "The Blues." His son, Jackson, was his entire life, they made many memories boating, fishing, and camping together, especially on Kentucky Lake. Don, Jackson, and Julie had the opportunity to visit many places including the Vatican in Rome, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Turkey, Germany, Vancouver and Alaska. He was a very giving person through out his life and this was reflected so in his death by being an organ and tissue donor. Don donated his liver to a 44 year old man in Arkansas as well as tissue to a program researching the esophagus. Don is survived by his wife of 10 years, Julie (Moll) Gogel; son, Jackson Eric Gogel both of Newburgh, IN; sisters, Audrey Lipking (Ted) of Boonville, IN and Sharon Hicks (Ernie) of Evansville, IN; brother, George Gogel (Kathy) of Hatfield, IN; step-sons, Nolan Harmon of Evansville, IN and Neil Harmon of Evansville, IN; aunt, Kathryn Meyer of Dale, IN; mother-in-law, Joanna Moll of Evansville, IN; sister-in-law, Dorene Moll of Newburgh, IN; and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711, with Father Ray Brenner officiating. Friends may visit from 11:00 AM until service time on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Browning Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Jackson Gogel College Education Fund. The bank requests make contributions payable to Jackson Gogel.
