Donald A. Garman 1927—2016 Donald A. Garman, 89, formerly of Belvidere, IL, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, in Sauk City, WI. Don was born December 14, 1927, in Roselle, IL, the son of Walter A. and Bernice (Droegemuller) Garman. He married Jean Ann Fellinger on February 18, 1947, in Sycamore, IL. Don was co-owner of Roy C. Williams Construction Co., a general contractor in Marengo, IL, for several years. Don was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. Don and Jean, his wife of 62 years, enjoyed spending time on Lake Koshkonong fishing on their pontoon, the "Liki Tiki". Don and Jean also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends as well as spending hours playing two-handed pinochle together (and each accusing the other of "cheating"). He was passionate about his family and grandchildren, and always found time for them. Don was loved and will be missed by his son, Gary M. (Janet) Garman of Sarona, WI; daughter in-law, Margaret "Peg" Garman of Arizona; five grandchildren, Kevin (Sue), Laura (Bryan) Schmitz, Benjamin (Nicole), Matthew (Julia), Zachary (Jennifer); five great-grandchildren, Timothy, Ara, Sally, Willow,Braxton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Don is predeceased by his parents; wife, Jean; son, David M. Garman; and four siblings, Melvin, Ethel, Gloria and Les. Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. April 22, 2017, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL 61008. A memorial gathering will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorials will be given to The McFarland and Glenview Fire Departments, his sons Gary and Dave's departments.
