Don B. Barnett
Don B. Barnett, 95 of Galion passed away Monday, January 9, 2017, at Magnolia Terrace in Galion. He was born October 21, 1921, in Mt. Vernon and was the son of Homer and Bessie (Skeels) Barnett. On June 24, 1943, he married Virginia V. Ireland and they shared nearly 57 years of marriage until her passing on May 25, 2000. Don was a 1941 graduate of LaRue High School and moved to Galion where he owned and operated Barnett Plumbing and Heating in Galion from 1946 to 2010. He was a member of the Galion Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness and was very involved with Watchtower conventions, receiving seven Who's Who Awards. Don was an avid Ohio State Football fan and enjoyed fishing and volunteering. He is survived by his son, James A. (Mary) Barnett of Tampa, Florida; his daughter, Faye A. (David) Givens of Dayton; his seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Peter, Jeffrey, Mallory, Michael, Nathan and Amanda; his four great-grandchildren, Emma, Gavin, Maddox and Mila and a brother Lee Barnett of Bellevue. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his four brothers. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017, at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 and one hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14 at the funeral home with Minister Lawrence Jarka officiating. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc.in care of the funeral home.
