Dolores 'Lolita' H. Duran, 64, lifelong resident of Las Cruces, entered eternal life Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. "Lolita", as she was fondly known to family and friends, was born September 1, 1949 to Jose Dolores and Adelina Valenzuela Herrera. At the time of her death, Lolita was employed at Memorial Medical Center in the housekeeping department and was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Those left to mourn her passing include two sons, Carlos Duran, Jr. and companion Jacqueline Gomez, Jose Duran and companion Maria Murillo, all of Santa Clara; one daughter, Debra Garcia and husband Chris of Las Cruces; two sisters, Sally Gonzalez and Isabel Hernandez and companion Jerry Telles, all of Las Cruces. Other survivors include twelve grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Lolita was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Carlos "Charlie" Q. Duran, Sr. in 1997. Visitation for Lolita will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2013 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Holy Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2013 in Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish Catholic Church, 3600 Parroquia Street in Tortugas with Reverend Vincent Peterson officiating. At her request cremation will take place and inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date. Serving as casket bearers will be Stephen Chavez, II, Matthew Valenzuela, Jerry Telles, Bobby Dominguez, Bengie Valles and John Hernandez.
