Dianna Filkin 12/8/1943 10/14/2016 Dianna Filkin, nee Dody, passed away after brief illness on October14th. She is survived by her mother, brother and devoted husband Roy. She was born on a farm in South Dakota and had fond memories of her early years there. She then moved with her parents to Minnesota and lived there until following her graduation from university she moved to Alaska to work for IBM. She was promoted , moved to Los Angeles and married one of her colleagues. He was an avid sailor and they lived on a sailboat for several years competing in international races, including the Transpack to Hawaii and back. The marriage didn't last, however, and they were divorced in 1980. She met her future husband Roy through a mutual friend and they moved to Hong Kong where they married. She started a consultancy and became very active in the American Chamber of Commerce in which she became friendly with the American Consul General and attended frequent parties at the Consulate where she and her husband met numerous international figures. She travelled frequently to the South East Asia countries with Roy and was a popular guest with the local IBM management and their wives. After six years they returned to the USA, bought a motorhome and toured the country for two years searching for the ideal place to live. They found it in Nevada, bought land and spent two years building their ideal home. Dianna became a realtor and they founded a commercial real estate investment company and renovated and leased several historic buildings. In 2015 they sold all their Reno properties and moved to Rancho Mirage where Dianna quickly started to make new friends. Regrettably for only a short time.
