Devon "Larry" Lightbody
Devon Lawrence "Larry" Lightbody, 54, passed away on October 4, 2016 while at Saint Francis Hospital. Larry was born on July 18, 1962 in Port Antonio, Jamaica, W.I., son of Rose A. Lightbody of Windsor and the late Rudolph G. Lightbody of Windsor/Jamaica. Larry is survived by a beloved daughter whom he loved dearly, Demetria Lightbody of Windsor and his two grandsons who brought life to him, Amari Oseni and Ashton Brown. He also leaves his sister with whom he shared a very special bond, Jacqueline G. Lightbody of Windsor/NYC; two older brothers, Michael Jackson of San Diego, CA and Peter Jackson of Bristol; two nephews, Peter Jackson, Jr. and Jason Jackson; a niece, Kylah Jackson; many cousins and special cousin, Robert Lightbody of Milton, MA; aunts and uncles, especially his uncle Frank McDonald in England, and numerous friends including his best friends, Andrew Levy and Charles Robinson of Hartford. He was predeceased by his beloved grandmother, Daisy Graham; grandfather, Dudley Chambers; and great-grandfather, Norman Chambers. Larry migrated to the USA in 1972 and attended St. Justin School in Hartford. He also attended St. Justin Church where he served as an altar server for a number of years. After briefly attending Northwest Catholic High School, Larry graduated from Weaver High School in Hartford. After high school he pursued his passion for cooking as a sous chef and later computers working as an IT specialist. 27 years ago Larry was involved in a hit and run collision resulting in a traumatic brain injury that would permanently change the course of his life. After rehabilitation he spent the last several years at Bloomfield Healthcare Center where he was vibrant and humorous, tackling each day's challenges and maintaining a joyful heart. His family is so thankful for the tremendous care he received at Bloomfield Health Care. Larry was a kind, faithful, and loving man who will be missed by so many. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at St. Justin Roman Catholic Church, 230 Blue Hills Ave., Hartford with burial following in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 9-10:45 a.m. prior to the Mass at St Justin Church.
