QUEENSTOWN - Dennis Stanton Stachelek of Queenstown, MD, died Saturday, January 7, 2017, at his home, he was 77. Born on Feb. 5, 1939 in New Britain, CT, the son of the late Stanley Joseph Stachelek and Gabriella Malachowski. Dennis grew up in CT, after high school, he enlisted in the Army and while serving in the Army he would become a 1965 graduate of the University of Connecticut. He began his career in bio tech sales that would relocate him to Michigan, Texas, and Indiana, and in 1997, to their current home in Queenstown on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. In 2005, Dennis retired from sales and together with Connie, established Artisans of the World in historic St. Michaels, MD. Dennis was a devoted UConn alumni and fan. He loved reading, military history and will especially be remembered for beginning a connoisseur of Polish Vodka who was always prepared to give a toast. He is survived by his wife, Connie Stachelek; daughter, Denna "Dink" Grasso and her husband Tom; son Dr. Scott Stachelek and his wife Joanna; step daughter, Patti Wilson; and eight grandchildren: Colin, Aynslee, Madeline, Cayden, Bode, Nichole, Evan, Shane; and sister in law, Lorraine Stachelek. He was predeceased by his brothers, Norman and Conrad Stachelek. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Chester, MD. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to Compass Reginal Hospice, 255 Comet Dr., Centreville, MD 21617.
