In memory of
Dennis Courtney Virginia Beach - Dennis Michael Courtney, 64, passed away suddenly into God's loving arms on October 13, 2016. He was born on November 8, 1952 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Donald A. Courtney and Catherine Louise (nee Walker) Courtney. Following his graduation from Carrick High School, he graduated from Pennsylvania State University. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Because of his brilliance in mathematics and engineering, he proudly served as an instructor at Fleet Training Center in Norfolk. He held Top Secret Security Clearance. After his service in the Navy, Dennis travelled the world, working as an engineer for Lockheed Martin and Martin Marietta Services. He also served as a consultant to Sony Corporation. In addition to his career, he owned properties and a landscaping business in Virginia Beach. Upon his retirement, he settled in Virginia Beach and Brunswick County to be close to the sea that he loved. His sister, Donna Madeja of Zelienople, PA and his loving parents preceded him in death. Left to cherish his beautiful memory are his love and devoted companion of 30 years, Beth Camper of Virginia Beach, his sisters Darlane (John) Snodgrass of Benbrook, TX, Debbie (Robert) Hawthorne of Duchesne, Utah, brother Darrell Courtney of Pittsburgh, PA, son Sean (Veronica) Courtney of Hutto, TX, daughters Michelle (David) Patterson of Fargo, ND and Elisabet Courtney of Iceland, and grandchildren, Sean, Michael, and Sam, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. As per Dennis's wishes, his family has arranged a private memorial burial where, in the spring, his ashes will be scattered into the sea that he adored.
