On Monday September 18, 2017, we his family and friends loss an amazing, loving, caring generous, warm and kind man. Dempsey McArthur Perry fell asleep in death on September 18, 2017 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He leaves behind those who loved and adored him as follows: His love and life partner of 35 years, Rose Newsome, her love and devotion was a blessing to him, his five children, Karen Harper (Nelson), Steve Perry, Annesia Greene (Monroe), McArthur Perry all of Roanoke and Demesey Perry of Charlottesville. He is also survived by one sister, Mary E. Pugh (Thomas) Rome, NY. He was also "Poppy" to Shanel Sayles, Carlos Sayles, Michael Taylor and their mother, Sam Sayles. His uncles Lonnie Freeman has always been a major part of his life, always a stand in father, brother and friend A special cousin, Ann Reuben who was also a sister to him as well as a dear friend. A dear friend and support, Angie Witcher, always willing to assist him with love and compassion. Dempsey has many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. We all loved him and will deeply miss him but are so grateful for the time we were blessed to have him with us. Dempsey is predeceased by his two sets of parents, Cecil and Nora Perry, Peach and Alberta Ferguson, a son, Dempsey Perry, Jr., a brother Cecil Perry, Jr. and his best friend and fishing partner, Wendell Reuben.
