Craig, Della Blanford, 82, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017 at her home. Della was born February 9, 1935 and was a native of Holy Cross. Although she moved to the city of Louisville at the age of 18, she was always a Holy Cross girl at heart. She was a former employee of Southern Bell and AT & T. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church where she managed the concession and gym rentals for years and made many friends at the parish. She was the eldest child of C. Fabian "Fabe" Blanford and Cecilia Edelen Blanford Beaven. Della had an outgoing personality who loved conversation and made friends wherever she went. She was dedicated to the rescue and care of all stray animals who happened to cross her path. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and reveled in their activities and accomplishments. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Myrna Miles, and her special aunt Alicia Newton. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Gerald "Jerry" Craig; four children, Alan (Karen), Karen Finn (Paul), Sharon Craig and Lisa C. Tinnell; her sister Marlene Blanford and brother William Edward Blanford; six grandchildren, Ashley and Kyle Craig, Michael (Brittany) and Jared Tinnell, Matthew and Eric Finn; two great-grandchildren, Aubree Sanders and Christian Tinnell, several nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 59 New Haven Road, Loretto. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Bryan T. Lamberson will preside. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 7 p.m. by The Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant. Expressions of Sympathy may be made to the Kentucky Humane Society and Hosparus.
