Deborah Erwin Deborah Erwin died in her home in Washington DC on Sunday, October 9, 2016 after a six-year battle with breast cancer. Loving wife of Mark Erwin; mother of Isabel; also survived by her parents, Ruth and Nathaniel Karush of New York City; her sister, Sarah; her brother, Matt; as well as four nieces and nephews. Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1966. Debbie earned a BA from Princeton University, a PhD from Yale University, and a JD from New York University. After earlier working as an English professor, she was employed by the law firm, Latham & Watkins, before moving in 2008 to the Internal Revenue Service, where she worked as Special Counsel for the Office of the Associate Chief Counsel Criminal Tax. Debbie was brilliant, generous and loving, and she will be deeply missed by her family, her colleagues, and her many good friends. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on October 29, 2016 at Joseph Gawler's Sons Funeral Home, 5130 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC 20016.
