HOWE - Funeral services for Deanna Lyrae (Sloan) Powell will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 18 at Harvest Time Assembly of God in Sherman. Burial will follow at Hall Cemetery in Howe. Mrs. Powell, 40, passed away Friday, October 14 near Gunter in an automobile accident. Deanna was born February 22, 1976 in Sherman. She graduated from Howe schools and the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in 1999. Deanna worked in funeral service for 15 years. She enjoyed decorating, making crafts, and working in her yard. Deanna loved life and all animals. Deanna's greatest joy was her daughter and watching her many activities. Deanna is survived by her husband Jared Powell of Howe; daughter, Sophie Mathers and her father Erin Mathers of Gunter; three sisters, Meghan Bond and husband James of Sherman, Kristen Morgan and Toby Schofield of Gainesville, and Sadie Lighty and husband Frank of Whitesboro; two brothers, Wesley Sloan of Dallas and Troy Sloan and wife Elizabeth of Howe; parents, Dean and Patsy Sloan of Howe; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Emily Powell of Howe; grandmother, Joyce Deweese of Sherman; two sisters-in-law, Rhonda Huntsman and husband Leonard and Paula Cavender and husband Shane, all of Howe; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her biological mother, Donna Deweese Morgan. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 17 at Waldo Funeral Home.
