Dean Bartley TAHOKA-Dean Bartley of Lubbock passed away on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016 at the age of 89. She was born Sept. 16, 1927, in Roaring Springs, Texas, to the late L.H. and Esther (Collett) Clifton. She graduated from Roaring Spring High School and attended Texas Tech. Later, Dean married William Edward Bartley in Motley County, Texas, on Oct., 27, 1949. Dean chaired for the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army; she was a Past President of the Historical Society of Tahoka. She was the manager and treasurer for the Lynn County Federal Credit Union, the co-founder of the Lynn County livestock sale, served as the sale-chairperson of the Lynn County Livestock Association for a decade. For over forty years, she taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church in Tahoka. Five years ago, Dean moved into the Raider Ranch community of Lubbock, where she began teaching a bible study class and became a member of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church. Dean has been awarded Woman of the Year by the Chamber of Tahoka; Mother of the Year, by First Baptist Church of Tahoka; and a proud member of the First Baptist Church of Tahoka. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Edward Bartley; son, Max Bartley and her six siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Myrna (Barry) Weaver of Lubbock; son, Math (Linda) Bartley, of Lubbock; brother, Pete (Beatrice) Clifton, of Plainview; sister, Mary Rainbolt, of Nocona, Texas; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at Combest Family Funeral Homes, Tahoka, with the family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Tahoka with interment to follow at the Tahoka Cemetery.
