In memory of
David Skiles
David E. Skiles Newburgh, Ind. The Lord took David E. Skiles to a better place October 12, 2016, from St Mary's Hospital in the company of his loving family and friends. Born November 16, 1942, the son of Margaret and Harvey Skiles of Dayton Ohio. He was active in his beloved Crossroads Church where he was a server and attended the meaningful Journeyman's Bible Study Group. David was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. He retired from the Local Laborers Union as a concrete finisher in 1997. He loved his work and enjoyed being with all his "work buddies". He was happiest when he was on his John Deere mowing his lawn. He always said he did his best thinking there and it made him feel close to God. He loved to joke with people and always made friends with his humor and smile. He never met a stranger and with his generous style he would have given anyone the shirt off his back. David was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Surviving David is his wife Joyce Negley; sisters, Mary Noll (Marion) and Alice Hoover (Tim), both of Ohio; a brother, Gene Skiles (Rabina), of Florida; stepdaughters, Victoria Jenkins, of Kentucky, Jane Engs (Stuart), of Nevada, Susan Negley, of Colorado, and Constance Negley, of Arizona; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and three grandchildren. David is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Mark Skiles and Charles Skiles; and granddaughter, Tara Jenkins. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel-A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Ave., Evansville, with Reverend Jack Arney officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. EST Monday, October 17, 2016, in Eversole Cemetery, New Lebanon, Ohio.
