David W. McFarland Sr.
David W. “Wes” McFarland, Sr., 94, of Harleysville, passed away Monday, October 17, 2016. He was the husband of the late Ann F. (McEvoy) McFarland. Born November 24, 1921, in Chestnut Hill, he was the son of the late William and Elizabeth (Greer) McFarland. Wes was the former owner of McFarland Bicycle and Leather Repair Shop, Ambler. He had also worked for Upper Merion & Plymouth RR, which served Alan Wood Steel. Wes had a passion for piloting his own aircraft. He was an Army veteran of WW II where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and at one time was listed as MIA. He attended Family Worship Center, Lansdale, and was a member of Fritz Lodge F & AM # 308. His survivors include a son, David W. McFarland Jr. (Diane), of Schwenksville, and a daughter-in-law, Hilda McFarland, Royersford, four grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He is predeceased by a son William McFarland; siblings, Elizabeth Turnock and Anna Taylor. Graveside services are private in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler.
