David A. Lane
DOVER - David A. Lane, passed away peacefully on Dec. 30, 2016 at the home of his son, Tom. Mr. Lane earned his CPA at Strayer University and worked for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, D.C. for over 20 years. While he was working there, he did taxes on the side, which eventually led him to being a self-employed estate accountant after his retirement. He was drafted during the Korean Conflict and was enlisted with the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S.Army. He attended Conley's United Methodist Church in Rehoboth, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. Mr. Lane frequented The Crystal Restaurant in Rehoboth, where he was affectionately known as "The Governor". He was a member of Midway Lions Club, where he volunteered. The annual bowling day for special needs children was especially dear to his heart. Mr. Lane was also an active member of the Rehoboth YMCA, where he enjoyed taking water aerobics classes. He loved square dancing, playing bridge, golfing and a good home cooked meal. He is survived by his six children, Richard A. Lane, of Townsend; Debra Niffenegger and her husband, Thomas, of Mt. Airy, Md.; Pamela Sebring and her husband, Barry, of Carson City, Nev.; Lynda Thompson and her husband, Jeffrey, of Boiling Springs, Pa.; Thomas Lane and his wife, Linda, of Dover; and Jeffrey Lane and his wife, Monica, of Delray Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings Paul, Donna and Art, Jr. Friends may visit with the family at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 at Conley's United Methodist Church, 33106 Jolyn's Way, Lewes, DE 19958. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Conley's United Methodist Church at the above address or Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
