Mr. King, 76, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at his home with family close by. Dave was born June 25, 1941, in Peoria, Ill. To Virgil and Ydun King. He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1959. On Sept. 2, 1961, he married Peggy K. Thompson at the Methodist Church in Chillicothe, Ill. Dave worked for Chillicothe Cartage for five years. He then worked for International Transport in East Peoria before transferring to Rochester where he stayed for 18 years before their closing. He then worked for Olson Truck Insurance for 12 years. Dave was able to spend quality times with his sons and grandsons camping, boating, and fishing along the Mississippi River. He met many wonderful people during those times. He reminisced often of the great times we had tent camping with close friends on the Mississippi sand bars. He also was able to take a boat trip with great friends down the Mississippi to the Gulf. He was preceded in death by his parents, his eldest sister Nola Rae, a nephew, Jim Scales, a great-nephew, Forrest Hernandez, a brother-in-law Raymond, (Shirley) Hanslow and a daughter-in-law, Kimberly (Troy) King. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggy; children Todd (Wendy) King and Troy King of Rochester; five grandsons, Dustin, Dylan, Casey, Conner, Caleb; a great-granddaughter, Jaylen; a brother, Lonny (MaryEllen ) King; sister Janie (Sue) King of Eugene, Ore., and sister Shirley (Ray) Hanslow of Indiana; and many nieces and nephews and their families. Burial services will take place at a later date in Chillicothe. Memorials maybe made to Mayo Clinic Hospice or the Hemophilia Foundation.
