SALAMANCA - David Johnson, 59, of Kent Boulevard, Salamanca, died Sunday evening (Oct. 9, 2016), surrounded by his loving family, at his home following a brief illness. Born on Nov. 2, 1956 in Salamanca, he was the son of Connie Johnson of Salamanca and the late Robert Johnson. He was married Aug. 5, 1978, to the former Gerri Skinner, who survives. Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1974. He was employed as a produce manager at Parkview Supermarket prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Holy Cross Athletic Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8734 in Little Valley and American Legion Post No. 892 in Allegany. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and dogs. Surviving besides his wife and mother are a daughter, Jennifer Johnson of Salamanca; a son, Robert (Kylee) Johnson of Salamanca; six grandchildren, Michelle Pierce, Nicholas Johnson, Alexzandra Ricketts, Bryce Ball, Brock Johnson and Knox Johnson; a brother, James (Kathy Holland) Johnson of Salamanca; a sister, Nancy (Ralph) Soeder of Painesville, Ohio; his mother-in-law, Gerry Skinner of Portville; and several nieces and nephews. Friends called Wednesday at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca. Honoring Mr. Johnson's wishes, there will be no funeral service.
