David R. Ferland
WILLIAMSTOWN - A Mass of Christian burial and celebration of life for David R. Ferland, 79, of The Gardens was held on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at 11 a.m. in St. Edward Catholic Church in Williamstown, Vermont. He passed away on Oct. 5, 2016, at his home. The Rev. James C. Dodson, pastor of the church, was the celebrant. Crucifer Bernard Byrne was altar server. Pianists Mark Abrams accompanied singers Karla Perkins and John Perkins in the hymns, "Amazing Grace," "Faith of Our Fathers," "On Eagles Wings," "Allelulia," "The Strife is Oer." Scripture readings from the Old Testament were read by Chris Clark, a friend, and Michael Brown, also a friend, read scriptures from the New Testament. Father Dodson read the gospel and delivered the homily. Offertory gifts were presented at the altar by his grandchildren, Emma Ferland and Benjamin Ferland. Words of remembrance were shared by his son, Jim Ferland; he also read a poem, "My Father Is a Simple Man." A later burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Following the Mass, family and friends gathered in the church dinning hall for a time of sharing memories and luncheon. Arrangements were in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre, Vermont.
