Dauna Lee Caffey Emmich
Dauna Lee Caffey Emmich, daughter of Virginia Caffey, was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana, on August 7, 1935 and died on October 16, 2016. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from LSU in Education. She was a long time elementary school teacher. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Maurice "Bill" Emmich; son, Brian Emmich, and his children, Ben, Olivia, William and Leah; daughter, Karen Emmich Collins; and son-in-law, Tom Collins. She is predeceased by her mother, Virginia Caffey, her daughter-in-law, Katie Hussey Emmich, and a special aunt, Ruth Norma Gentzler. She was an active member of Beth Shalom Synagogue, where she was honored with the Woman of Valor Award. Also at Beth Shalom Synagogue, she was a long time Board Member and Chair of the Rayner Center, a member of the religious school committee, a member of the synagogue board, a long time Vice President of Sisterhood, gift shop chair, and longtime co-chair of the corned beef sandwich sale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beth Shalom Synagogue, Hospice of Baton Rouge, or the charity of your choice.
