Daniel Zapata passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at the age of 86. He was born on April 17, 1930, in Mendoza, Argentina. Daniel was a chemical engineer, a proud immigrant, and an avid advocate of the Spanish language and of the metric system. In heaven, where he now resides, they use the metric system. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Zapata-Whelan and her husband Walter W. Whelan; his son, Martin Zapata; his five grandchildren, Brian Daniel Whelan and his wife Tali Whelan, Vincent Patrick Whelan, Lucas Christopher Whelan and his wife Ashley Whelan, Celine Caroline Whelan, and Isabel Marie Whelan; his two great-granddaughters, Allesandra Marie Whelan, and Luisa Belle Whelan. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Agnes Mission Catholic Church in Pinedale, CA, on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Donations may be made to Valley Children's Hospital.
