Daniel Nunez Daniel Nunez, 84, passed away peacefully at New Hope Nursing home in Tracy, Calif., on Monday, January 2, 2017, after battling Parkinsons for 8 years. Daniel was born May 5, 1932, in Anthony, N.M. He was the son of Ysidro and Antonia Nunez. He graduated from Tulare High School, served 3 years in the U.S. Army, graduated from Cal Poly SLO, was a Lieutenant in SLO sheriff's dept., taught at Allen Hancock Community college, taught at Cuesta College in criminal law administration, retired after 23 years of teaching and was an alcoholic and drug counselor for SLO County in Arroyo Grande. Dan enjoyed racing his Porsches, and taking long relaxing drives with his wife Ruby. Dan was a friend of Bill W's for 31 years. Daniel is survived by his wife of 31 years Guadalupe (Ruby); sons Daniel Nunez, Jr., Patrick Nunez, Carlos Nunez; daughter Nancy Beshears; and five grandchildren, Kristin, Kayla, Jason, Trevor and Levi. Stepchildren Leonard Misquez, Lori Mooney and Leigh-Ann Thompson; five grandchildren, Dylan, Lindsey, Leslie, Wesley and Carissa; and 1 great- grandchild Landon. Also dear to his heart were his siblings Alice Cordova, Helen Malta, John Nunez, Hortencia Hernandez, Isidoro Nunez, Genaro Nunez, and Irene Lopez; and also many nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017, 11:00am at Mission San Luis Obispo, reception following.
