Daniel Joseph Mack Sr.
Daniel Joseph Mack Sr., age 71, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family and dear friends. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Pat Bermingham Mack, his two children, Kelly M. Lachney (Scott) and Daniel J. Mack Jr. and his four treasured grandchildren, Austin, Grace and Camille Lachney and Brandy Staley. He is also survived by his three sisters, Cheryl Hirstius, Tammy Pecora and Trudy Rednour. He was predeceased by his parents, Alice G. Mack and George D. Mack. Danny was born in New Orleans and was a resident of Metairie, LA where he was a parishioner of St. Clement of Rome Parish. He graduated from F. T. Nicholls High School and Loyola University. He served his country honorably in the U. S. Marine Corp and was a sergeant with the New Orleans Police Department retiring after 43 years of service. During Danny's time with the NOPD he served in many roles and positions. Danny's pride and joy was his time in the Special Operations Division (SOD) Traffic Section where he supervised numerous traffic fatality investigations. Danny's expertise was in the planning and execution of numerous special events, including all of the Mardi Gras Parades for the City of New Orleans. Danny was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Crescent City Lodge #2, the PBMA and a board member of the New Orleans Police Department Employees Credit Union.The family would like to extend their thanks to all of those members of the FOP who supported Danny and his family during this difficult time, as well as his caretakers, Dolores and Jocelyn. A special thanks to Jenny who provided valuable guidance and support. Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at ST. CLEMENT OF ROME CHURCH, 4317 Richland Avenue, Metairie, LA on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. Visitation from 10:30 am until 1:00 p.m. when the rosary will be recited.
