Daniel Arthur "Danny" Bates
MEBANE, N.C. - Daniel Arthur 'Danny' Bates, who resided in Mebane, passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2016. He was born Nov. 18, 1977, in Olean, N.Y., to Donald Arthur Bates and Nancy Meta Hogue Bates of Franklinville, N.Y. Danny grew up in Franklinville and was active in both his church and the community. He was a member of Cub Scout Pack 601 and Boy Scout Troop 601, where he was able to participate in the National Jamboree, travel to Washington, D.C., and visit NASA. He attended Ten Broeck Academy high school, participating in basketball, soccer, track, band and French club. He graduated in 1995 with a NYS Regents Diploma, majoring in math, science, business and French. He went on to receive his associate degree in computer science from Jamestown Community College in Olean, achieving the dean's list. He spent the greatest part of his career as a network administrator with Adelphia Corp./Time Warner Cable in Coudersport, Pa. He was quick-witted and always willing to help out when needed. He loved science fiction, computers and being with family and friends. He enjoyed his different sport cars over the years, both driving and working on them. His dedication and love for his German shepherd, Holly, is a celebration of the person that he was. He left a lasting impression wherever he went. He was loved dearly and will not be forgotten. Danny is survived by his mother; two sisters, Barbara Bates (Don) Haley and Kathy Jewett of Franklinville; a brother, Tobin Bates (Vicki) of Mebane; his nephews, Matthew Haley (Ashley) of Franklinville and Elijah Bates of Mebane; his niece, Abigaile Bates of Mebane; two aunts; a grandnephew; three nephews; a niece; six cousins; and two half-sisters. Danny is predeceased by his father, Donald. Funeral plans are not complete at this time. Arrangements are in the care of Omega Funeral Service & Crematory.
