Dan Allen Robar Dan Robar, 82, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2017 due to complications from Frontal Lobe Dementia. Dan was born in Sioux Falls on January 24, 1934 to Donald and Nettie Baumberger. He attended Lowell Elementary School and Washington High School, graduating in 1952. He attended USD for two years before joining the US Air Force. Upon graduating flight school in 1956, he finished his Business Administration degree at USD in 1958, and began a short lived career in insurance. In 1966 Dan joined the South Dakota Air National Guard where he retired from the ANG in 1989 at the rank of Brigadier General. He enjoyed a venture as a realtor with Howalt-McDowell until he fully retired in 1996. In his retirement, he volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. He married Deloris Nesheim (WHS '52) on February 24, 1961 and enjoyed 55 years of marriage until her passing on their anniversary last year. For those who knew him, he was one of a kind. Dan was a humble, hardworking man with a wonderful sense of humor. Blessed with an athletic physique and keen mind, he excelled in almost every endeavor including flying, golf, racquetball, and cards. In his youth he was excellent baseball and hockey player. His greatest contribution came as the primary caregiver to Dee when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Grateful for having shared both their lives are there three children: Joseph (Roberta), Austin, TX; Dwight, Sioux Falls, SD; and Kyle (Allison), Newport Beach, CA; 8 grandchildren: Zachery and Samuel Robar, Daniel, Nathan and Luke Robar, and Kenna, Ava and Keaton Robar. He is preceded in death by his wife Dee, his parents, and two brothers, Calvin and Garland. Funeral arrangements are planned for the summer of 2017 for both Dan and Dee.
