POQUOSON - Crosby Carroll Forrest, 74, a native & lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017. He was a Class of 1960 graduate of Poquoson High School; attended Hampton Roads Business College; and a member of Emmaus Baptist Church, Poquoson, where he was instrumental in the funding of the Christian Outreach Center (COC building). Crosby founded Dixie Trailer Sales which is now Dixie RV Superstore in 1966. He was involved with all aspects of the dealership up until his death. He enjoyed so much seeing his family work together and having the same passion for the industry he so loved. Crosby always stated the formula for success at Dixie RV Superstore were the employees. Above all else, Crosby said his foundation for everything in life and business has been his wife Mary Virginia. Crosby was a 50 year member, and key member in the creation and development of the R.V.D.A. (Recreational Vehicle Dealers Association), including service as past Chairman, Vice-President, Treasurer, and currently Board Member with the Assciation. He has earned numerous awards, including the Jim Summers Award, RV/MH Hall of Fame Inductee, Coast Largest Mid-Atlantic Distribution Top Dealer Award, Monaco Coach Top Dealer Award, Better Business Bureau Top Business Award, and 2008 & 2009 Top 50 Dealer Award. Crosby was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Carmine & Coston "Bear" Forrest Sr.; granddaughter, Brittany Nicole Dalheim; brother, Coston Forrest Jr.; maternal grandparents, Maggie & Floyd Rollins; paternal grandparents, Martha "Baby Sis" & Crosby Forrest Sr.; and his beloved canine companion, Teensie. Crosby is survived by, all of Poquoson, his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Virginia Forrest; daughter, Virginia Lynne Forrest Dalheim & husband Dennis Jr.; son, Crosby Layne Forrest & wife Elizabeth Katherine; grandchildren, Dennis Paul "Trey" Dalheim III, Jacob Charles Forrest, Ryan Wallace Forrest, Ella Claire Forrest, Olivia Grace Forrest, Sadie Elizabeth Forrest, and Graysen "Little Mary" Forrest; and numerous extended family and good friends. The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 13, 7-8:30 PM, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. A Celebration of a true southern gentleman will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, 2:00 PM, at Emmaus Baptist Church, led by Pastor Dan Cromer. Interment will follow at Weston Cemetery, Poquoson. Following interment, all are welcome to a reception at the Poquoson Yacht Club, 417 Messick Rd., Poquoson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Poquoson Volunteer Fire & Rescue, P. O.
