Crawford D. "Mac" McGehee
Crawford D. "Mac" McGehee, 86, of Ocala, Fla. On April 9, 2017, Palm Sunday, God called Mac to his heavenly home. Born in Mulberry, Tennessee, Mac grew up on a farm and was the oldest of four children of Alexander Crawford McGehee and Elizabeth Logan McGehee. Mac was a true southern gentleman. He had a strong Christian faith as a Baptist, and his word was his bond. Mac served four years in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was first stationed at Moses Lake AFB, where he met his wife, Merna. He was then stationed at Bentwaters AFB in Suffolk, England, northeast of London. Mac and Merna were married in Felixstowe, England, 64 years ago. While living in England, Mac and Merna enjoyed many travel adventures throughout Europe. He purchased one of the first few 1952 Austin-Healy British sports cars. Mac and Merna had 64 years of a wonderful loving marriage and a life full of adventure and world travels. Mac graduated from Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee, with a B.S. in Business Management. His professional career was in sales and marketing. His first job was with Proctor & Gamble in Spokane, Wash., and Jacksonville, Fla. He then became the owner of an RV dealership in Jacksonville, followed by his last career as a real estate developer investor. Mac said the best years of his life were spent living on Lake Bryant in the Ocala National Forest fishing for bass every morning and evening and being at his Mockingbird Farm in Mulberry, Tenn. Mac touched many lives with his love, friendship and generosity. He was a force of nature with boundless energy, an outgoing personality and a positive outlook on life. Mac loved music, especially gospel music, and he loved to dance. Mac gave Susan, Gary and Lori the most important things a Dad can give his children: faith, love, character, roots and wings. God, family and friendships were the most important things in Mac's life. His was truly a life well lived. He is survived by his devoted wife, Merna; daughter, Susan (Alan) Taylor; son, Gary (Judith) McGehee; daughter, Lori McGehee; sister, Amy (David) Garretson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
