In memory of
Concetta DiNatale DeFlaviis
Concetta DiNatale De Flaviis AGE: 93 • Wilmington Concetta DiNatale DeFlaviis, age 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 15, 2016 after years of battling many health challenges. The daughter of Anna Magazzeni and Fiorindo DiNatale, she was born in Abruzzi, Italy on November 1, 1922. She married the love of her life, Arturo DeFlaviis on October 7, 1945 and as a war bride came to America in 1946. One of her greatest achievements that filled her with pride was the day she became an American citizen. Her loving husband, Arturo, passed away August 27, 1973. After becoming a widow at the young age of 50, she dedicated her life to her children and caring for the home her husband built. Home and family were her pride and joy. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Angela, Guido and his wife Cindy, Nino and his wife Kathy, Anna Marie and her husband Vic. As years passed, her true passion and joy became her grandchildren: Arthur and Katie, Daniel and his wife Melissa, Sara, Michael and his wife Jodi, Krista and her husband Dave, Victoria and her husband Jeff, and Thomas. During the worst of times during her illness, her eyes would light up at the sound of their names. Also left to continue her legacy are her four great grandchildren: Lucian Guido, Caleb Michael, Joseph Allen and Brielle Marie. Though her time with them was short, it represented everything she held dear and who she was—the love of family. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews of The DiNatale family here in America and in Italy and France. She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings along with her dear friends Armida, Mary, and Gianna. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, October 19, 2016 from 6-8 PM at the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702 and again on Thursday, October 20 from 10:30 - 11 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 901 N. DuPont St, Wilmington, DE 19805. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Cathedral Cemetery. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks and gratitude to Carol Whitzell-Weis, who was her caregiver and friend for the past three years. The family also thanks Seasons Hospice for their support and care. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in her memory to St. Anthony of Padua Church or the Mary Campbell Center, 4641 Weldin Rd, Wilmington, DE 19803.
