Dr. Clifford C. Green
Dr. Clifford C. Green, DMD AGE: 70 • Freehold Dr. Clifford C. Green, DMD, 70, of Freehold, NJ, passed away January 8, 2017 after a long battle with prostate cancer. Born August 8, 1946, Cliff was the only child of Lillian (Cornish) and the late Lawrence Green. He grew up in Red Bank attending Red Bank public schools. A lifelong athlete, Cliff played baseball and football for the Red Bank H.S. Buccaneers (Class of 64). He was an All-County first baseman and All-County/All-Shore center. A standout football player, Cliff was successfully recruited by Albright College (Reading, PA). He ultimately transferred to Maryland State Eastern Shore to complete his studies in Biology. He later attended dental school at the University of Pittsburgh and became a Doctor of Dental Medicine. After graduation, he moved to Erie, PA to start his career as a pediatric dentist. He returned home to NJ to go into private practice. In 1986, he started working for the State of NJ as a dental consultant. Cliff worked for the state for 26 years, eventually retiring as the Acting Director of Quality Assurance for the Department of Human Services. Cliff was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Red Bank. Later in life, he became an active member of the Red Bank Men's Club and North Jersey Model Railroad Club. He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Cheryl of Freehold; his mother, Lillian of Red Bank; his daughter, Lauren (Raynard Bolling) of Randallstown, MD; his granddaughter, Campbell Bolling of Randallstown; close cousins Judy Newton (Lawrence Kirk) of Baltimore, MD and Almira "Skippy" Bird (Robert) of Tinton Falls; and many devoted cousins, nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will take place at noon on Monday, January 16 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 26 E. Sunset Ave., Red Bank, NJ 07701. A viewing will precede the service from 10:00 a.m. until noon. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Prostate Cancer Foundation in honor of Dr. Clifford C. Green.
