NORTHFIELD/BARRE - Clayton "Beebe" Luce, 80, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin. He was born in Brookfield on April 1, 1936, the son of William and Helen (Barcomb) Luce. He is a graduate of Northfield High School, class of 1954. He married Doris Regina Delude in Northfield on Jan. 13, 1958. After 43 years of marriage, Doris predeceased him on Aug. 10, 2001. Beebe was a United States Navy veteran, having served honorably during the Korean War. He had worked for the Nantanna Woolen Mill in Northfield for a few years and later joined Lafayette Construction Company in Sheldon, Vermont, where he worked virtually his entire career. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, all of Northfield, and the Elks Club in Montpelier. He enjoyed golf, camping, sports, reading history and crossword puzzles. He is survived by his four daughters: Lori Luce and her partner, Bobby Marino, of Quincy, Massachusetts, Kari Luce, of Northfield, Toni Lawrence, of Northfield, and Boni Doney and her husband, Jeff, of Northfield Falls; two brothers, Robert Luce, of Rockville, Connecticut, and Richard Luce, of West Berlin; a sister, Dee, of Florida; grandchildren Erica Doney, Corey Doney, Jeremy Lawrence, Jonathan Amell, Kristi Luce, Michaela Marino; great-grandson Cooper Clayton Lawrence; his companion, Alice Nichols, of Barre; many nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wishes, there are no calling hours. A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m. at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, where full military honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. John the Evangelist, 206 Vine St., Northfield, VT 05663. Kingston Funeral Home in Northfield is handling the arrangements.
