Clarence E. Rogers Jr.
FAIR HAVEN - Clarence Edwards "Skipper" Rogers Jr., died Friday morning, Jan. 13, 2017, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was born on Jan. 27, 1939, in Castleton, the son of Clarence E. and Louise (Mills) Rogers Sr. Mr. Rogers graduated from the Wallingford High School. He served in the Vermont National Guard for several years. Mr. Rogers married Mildred L. Lake on Oct. 14, 1967, in Manchester. Mr. Rogers was employed by the Rutland Fire and Clay Co., Guy E. Wilson Trucking and several area car dealerships prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Fair Haven American Legion Post #31, Loyal Order of the Moose and the Fair Haven Eagles Club. Skipper was an avid sports fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants and enjoyed watching WWE wrestling. He enjoyed dancing and loved trucking and 18-wheelers. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Rogers, of Rutland; a daughter, Karen St. Lawrence and her husband, Shawn, of Billerica, MA; three sons, Brian Rogers and his wife, Jennifer, and their son, his special grandson, Trevor, all of Rutland, Patrick Farley, of Yarmouth, MA, and William Farley, of Illinois; a sister, Ruth Whipple, of Fair Haven; a brother, Richard Rogers, of Poultney; grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Rita Jean Wetherby and Shirley Smith, and two brothers, David Rogers and Robert Rogers. Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Durfee Funeral Home, 119 North Main Street, Fair Haven. Burial will be at a later date in the Hillside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Moose Heart, Moose Charities Inc., 155 South International Drive, Mooseheart, IL 60539-1100.
